Cranberry Orange Shortbread Cookies

Ingredients

1 1/2 c butter, room temp
1/2 c sugar
1/2 t Salt
2T orange zest
3 c flour
3/4 c Craisins

Instructions

1. Mix Ingredients.
2. When mixed, shape into 2 rectangles, 1/4-1/3” thick.
3. Wrap in plastic wrap and stick in the freezer for 10-15 minutes. Unwrap.
4. Using a sharp knife, cut into smaller rectangles.
    
5. Place on cookie sheet. Dock a few times with a fork.
I love using Silpat Baking Mats (like these) for this. They give the shortbread a really nice finish!
6. Bake 350 for about 15 min, until edges just begin to brown.
Optional glaze
1 T fresh squeezed orange juice
1/4 c powdered sugar

Enjoy!

  1. Create the garland by threading a needle then sew pompoms onto thread. Alternate red and white, leaving small spaces between.

Cookie Cutter Ornaments

  1. Tie a ribbon around the top of each ornament.

  2. Take a second piece of ribbon about 5″-6″ long and thread through the ribbon you already tied.
  3. Tie the second ribbon at the top to create a hanger.

  4. Optional: save the angel for the top of the tree.

Hang jingle bells

  1. Cut lengths of fishing line about 4″ long.
  2. Tie on jingle bells for hangers.

Round paper rolls

  1. Make round paper rolls.

  2. Cut 3″-4″ lengths of fishing line.
  3. Fold in half and tie at the end.

  4. Glue the end of the fishing line to the back of the paper circle.

Decorate the tree

  1. “Fluff” your tree by spreading out the branches then bending the ends slightly upward.

  2. Put the fairy lights on the tree, leaving a little extra wire at the top to attach tree topper.

    Regular tree lights work too but these tiny lights are nice because the cords don’t show and since they’re battery operated, you can put the tree wherever you want.
  3. Place the angel or star on the top of the tree. Use the extra wire from the lights to secure.
  4. Add pompom garland.
  5. Hang the cookie cutters, spacing as desired.

  6. Add the jingle bells and paper rolls.

  1. Once you have the printable, print out a whole sheet, roll it up, and add it to your gift
    OR
    Cut out the sayings for the items you’d like to include in your gift and attach the to each item.

Make your burlap halloween wreath

    1. Cut out a wreath form from cardboard.

      If you’re using thinner cardboard or just want it to be extra secure, cut two forms and glue together.

    2. Cut two pieces of burlap to wrap around and cover sides of wreath form. Cut a little at the inner corners so it will fold around. Wrap around and secure to back with glue.

    3. Cut two more pieces to cover top and bottom, then wrap on form and secure to the back with glue.
