Make a scarecrow

    1. Cut four pieces of wood:
      1- 2″ x 4″ x 28″ (body)
      1- 1″ x 2″ x 18″ (arms)
2- 2″ x 3″ x 14″ (base pieces)Make a scarecrow to deck out your porch for fall! It’s easy with this step by step tutorial.
    2. Build the base by centering one of the 2″ x 3″ base pieces at the base of the 4″ board (body) and attach with two screws or nails.
(If you need clarification, see below to see the finished base)Make a scarecrow to deck out your porch for fall! It’s easy with this step by step tutorial.
    3. Attach the other 2″ x 3″ piece on the back of the base of the 4″ board.Make a scarecrow to deck out your porch for fall! It’s easy with this step by step tutorial.
The base should now look like this: Make a scarecrow to deck out your porch for fall! It’s easy with this step by step tutorial.
    4. Slide the leg of jeans on the vertical board. It only needs to go about halfway up the board so if it’s way too long, trim the extra off. Leave the hemmed end for the bottom and extra for bagging it out a bit.

    5. To find a good place for the face and the arm board, slide the shirt on the board and put the hat on the head. Adjust things until you like how they look.

Supplies Needed

Make your Patriotic Bobby Pins

  1. Slide bobby pins onto a piece of thick paper or thin cardboard, leaving space for paint that will get around the edges.Patriotic Bobby Pins are fun and easy way to show your colors!
  2. Paint the red and white on bobby pins (minus the white stars). Paint halfway across for the pins that will also have blue. Let dry completely. One coat might be enough if it’s a thicker polish- if not, paint another coat.Patriotic Bobby Pins are fun and easy way to show your colors!
  3. Add the blue and let it dry.
  4. Use the head of a straight pin to make the white dots. I did four dots on the pins with the red stripe and three dots on the white ones.Dip the head in the polish and gently tap down on the pin. The dots can take awhile to dry- avoid squashing them for awhile.Patriotic Bobby Pins are fun and easy way to show your colors!
  5. When totally dry, remove from card and enjoy!

Supplies Needed

  • Cupcake Liners!Make a quick and easy patriotic wreath using cupcake wrappers. Show your red, white, and blue at home or a party!
I used Wilton’s red and blue wrappers because I love the shades and they’re a tiny bit thicker than some other brands I’ve used. You could also add in some white. Click to see where I found them. You could even try this patriotic kit instead of the solid colors.
  • Foam Wreath Form, like this one
  • Straight Pins
  • Silver Stars
I found the stars in this red, white, and blue pack
  • Red, White or Blue Ribbon
  • Glue Gun or Glue Dots

Make your Patriotic Wreath

  1. Turn cupcake wrappers inside out and fold or bend them to form a dish-like shape. Make a quick and easy patriotic wreath using cupcake wrappers. Show your red, white, and blue at home or a party!
  2. Stick a pin in the middle of a cupcake wrapper, then stick it onto the wreath form. Make a quick and easy patriotic wreath using cupcake wrappers. Show your red, white, and blue at home or a party!
  3. Continue around the wreath form, randomly placing colors and creating various shapes. If you like the wrappers closer together, then do it! I gave mine a little space to spread out and show their colors.Make a quick and easy patriotic wreath using cupcake wrappers. Show your red, white, and blue at home or a party!
  4. At some point, cut a length of ribbon for the wreath hanger. If you want the ribbon to go over the door, measure the distance from where the wreath will be positioned on the door and where you’ll hook the wreath on the back of the door. Double that length so you can fold the ribbon in half. If you’re hanging on a nail, decide how long you want the hanger to be.
  5. Take your ribbon at the halfway point and pin it around the wreath form.Make a quick and easy patriotic wreath using cupcake wrappers. Show your red, white, and blue at home or a party!
  6. Continue adding wrappers until wreath form is covered.
  7. If there are gaps or you’re not crazy about how some of the liners are sitting, take some hot glue or glue dots and put tiny dots between liners you want to touch. I used bobby pins to hold the liners together while the hot glue cooled off. If you’re planning to hang your wreath on a door that moves a lot, put a few dots of hot glue throughout to hold the liners on the form and to each other. The liners could pull off the pins if they move a lot.
  8. If you’d rather not add stars to your wreath, you’re finished! I really love it just like this.
Make a quick and easy patriotic wreath using cupcake wrappers. Show your red, white, and blue at home or a party!
  9. If you want to add the stars, take your glue gun or glue dots and secure the stars wherever you like them.

Food or Soap Coloring, optional

Essential oil of your choice, optional

Duck tape

Double boiler or large pan with a jar ring

How to Make Easter Egg Soap

  1. Add several inches of water to a double boiler or large pan and heat to a boil. If you’re not using a double boiler, place a jar ring on the bottom of your pan.Easter Egg Soap, Cleaning up has never been this cute!
  2. While the water is warming, drill or cut a hole in the large end of the plastic egg. The hole should be big enough you can pour in the soap.Easter Egg Soap, Cleaning up has never been this cute!
  3. Put a small piece of Duck tape over the tiny air hole that was already in the egg.Easter Egg Soap, Cleaning up has never been this cute!
  4. Cut the soap in to smaller chunks and place in a glass jar.Easter Egg Soap, Cleaning up has never been this cute! Easter Egg Soap, Cleaning up has never been this cute!
  5. Place the jar in the double boiler or on the jar ring and turn the water on to heat.Easter Egg Soap, Cleaning up has never been this cute!
  6. When the soap starts to look a little melty, use a hot pad and lift the jar just out of the water. Swish it around a bit to help distribute the heat. Place back in the water and repeat until it’s smooth.
  7. Remove the jar from the pan and add coloring and a few drops of essential oil, if desired. Sir until smooth.Easter Egg Soap, Cleaning up has never been this cute!
  8. Carefully pour the soap into the hole you cut in the plastic eggs. You can fill to the top, or add a little for creating layers.Easter Egg Soap, Cleaning up has never been this cute!
  9. Layers: If you want striped/layered eggs, pour some soap as deep as you’d like the stripe to be. Let that soap cool a little, until it starts to set up a little. Start the soap warming process again and then color the soap a different color. Create as many layers as you’d like, letting the soap completely cool between each layer.
  10. When cool, open the eggs and remove the soap!

Tip: if you’re having trouble getting your soap out, put the eggs in the freezer for 15 minutes. As the plastic warms back up, it will expand slightly, making your job easier.
