Grab a sheet
If you have any old crib or twin fitted sheets laying around (you know, the ones with the bagged out elastic?), pull out on and put it on the floor before dumping out all the legos. The edges of the sheet should stay up slightly without bunching up too much and keep the bricks from falling off. Clean up is easy – you just pick up the corners and all the bricks fall to the middle. Flat sheets (or blankets) work too, just keep the bricks toward the middle so they don’t fall off.
Floor mat and storage bag
These bags are great for building keeping bricks from hiding in the carpet. It also doubles as storage which makes things even easier. You can make your own or buy one ready to go.
Brick/activity table
If you have an old coffee table or night stand, you can sand some boards and attach them around the edges so kids can play with little toys in the middle without them ending up on the floor. Rather not make one? Here are a few I found online.
Brick storage head
This iconic yellow head is an awesome way to store your bricks. There’s a girl version too.
